I still love RSS and how it feels like a manageable stream of interesting info without the throwaway nature of most things like X, Bluesky or Mastodon. You can make it through a well curated set of feeds and get on with your day, it isn't an ever-flowing resource to waste time on.
As an ecosystem, RSS always survives, due to its open nature, simplicity of implementation and extreme utility for consumers. As everyone has experienced, the push to email newsletters over RSS has made it more difficult to take full advantage of feed readers. Lots of people and companies have made RSS to newsletter capabilities but none of them did all the things I wanted, or the newsletter part was just a small portion of a service which I didn't want to pay for.
Instead of sharing the code, which is pretty uninteresting, I've instead posted a spec for an agent to build it - this is the end result of the process I went through, so some learnings from iteration made it in there.
What I like most about this project is a simple feature which makes it more usable: There is a feed with entries for new senders to the email address and each entry includes a link to the newly created RSS feed. This lets me add new feeds to a feed reader without leaving the feed reader. I've simply added the "feed of feeds" to it, and now whenever I have an additional newsletter forwarded to the app, a new entry is added to the feed and I can quickly copy the new feed address into the reader app.
